Twist is a goldwork thread made of three threads twisted together, each with a cotton core wrapped with a strip of metal plate. It is strong and easy to manipulate while stitching and adds texture to your embroidery.
Use Twist thread by couching over it, or stitch it invisibly by passing the needle between the threads. Use either a matching or contrasting sewing thread with a good coating of beeswax.
The most commonly used size is 1 1/2 Twist. All the 'colour' Twists are in this size only. Gilt, Silver Plate and Copper are available in all sizes. Super is the finest, No.3 the thickest.
