The term ‘crewel work’ means embroidery with crewel wool threads on any fabric. The word ‘Jacobean’ describes the style of the design - influenced by English crewel work designs of the early 17th century. Jacobean crewel work is always stitched on natural-coloured pure linen twill fabric.
Peony flowers feature in a lot of Jacobean designs, showing the influence of Eastern style on British fashion in the 17th century.
This design fits an 8 " or 10 " (20 or 25 cm) ring frame. Some embroidery experience will prove helpful for this kit.
The kit explores many different traditional crewel work stitches (4 outline stitches, 3 knotted stitches, long and short shading, block shading, 7 decorative stitches).
In the box you get full instructions for each stitch, with tips on how to achieve the best results.

The kit comes in a presentation box for handy storage. Fabric is wrapped with acid-free tissue to protect your embroidery project.
