The term ‘stumpwork’ refers to three-dimensional or raised embroidery. Technically this is a misnomer; the technique is more accurately called ‘raised embroidery’ - historically stumpwork means a very particular technique of using tiny pieces of wood to create the nose on an embroidered person!
Raised embroidery typically has elements of padding, wired 3D shapes and needlelace.
This design fits an 8 " or 10 " (20 or 25 cm) ring frame. It is ideal for beginners, giving you an introduction to lots of different stumpwork elements.
