Lizerine (sometimes known as Lizardine) is a goldwork wire similar to pearl purl.  It has a smooth shiny surface.  Lizerine is made of a coil of wire so there is a hole through the centre.  It is very strong and easy to manipulate while stitching and adds texture to your embroidery.

The number corresponds to the size: No.3 is the largest, decreasing down to the finest ‘Very Fine’.

Use Lizerine by invisibly couching over it, letting a matching thread slip between the coils.  The thread will need a good coat of beeswax.
