'Hibiscus' Silk Shading Embroidery Kit

Silk shading (otherwise known as needle-painting) is the name for creating naturalistic shading and colour blending with simple stitches.

The stitch used is ‘long and short’ and sometimes other stitches are added to enhance the design.

Fine stranded cotton threads are used to imitate silk, blending smoothly from one colour to the next.

This design fits a 6 inch hoop and is suitable for those with some experience of embroidery who would like to try the silk shading technique.  In this design you will tackle smooth curves and colour transitions.
