Silk shading (otherwise known as needle-painting) is the name for creating naturalistic shading and colour blending with simple stitches.
The stitch used is ‘long and short’ and sometimes other stitches are added to enhance the design.
Fine stranded cotton threads are used to imitate silk, blending smoothly from one colour to the next.
This design fits a 6 inch hoop and is suitable for those with some experience of silk shading. In this design you will tackle more challenging curves and shading in small shapes.
The kit explores colour blending and shading with detailed instructions and step-by-step photographs, and tips on how to achieve the best results.
Kit contains: silk dupion fabric, calico support fabric, stranded cotton embroidery thread, needles, design and full instructions
The kit comes in a presentation box for handy storage. Fabric is wrapped with acid-free tissue to protect your embroidery project.
