The word ‘goldwork’ is used to describe embroidery with metal threads and wires, even if they are not gold! This technique has a long history all over the world; originally reserved for items of state and ceremony, now it can be enjoyed by everyone.
Some threads are stitched over to secure them to the fabric, others are cut and stitched through - like beads.
This design fits in a 8 inch ring frame and is ideal if you want to hone your goldwork technique. This kit is for you if you have tried goldwork before and need a project to really sink your teeth into, with a mix of fundamental and more advanced techniques and the addition of silk shading.
The kit explores two types of couching plus chipping, cutwork, leather, and padding techniques plus silk shading with six colours.
In the box you get full instructions for each stitch, with tips on how to achieve the best results.
Kit contains: linen fabric, felt, stranded cotton embroidery thread, pearl purl, smooth passing thread, wire check, bright check, metallic kid leather, sewing thread, needles, design and full instructions
The kit comes in a presentation box for handy storage. Fabric is wrapped with acid-free tissue to protect your embroidery project.
Material Pack contains the threads, felt and kid leather only, you will need to refer to the instructions in Goldwork Embroidery Techniques and Projects, and supply your own fabric and needles (you can purchase linen here if you wish).
