Broad plate is a goldwork material. It is a strip of plated metal.
No.6 is the larger size, No.11 the smaller. Whipped plate is the same size as No.6 and has a fine wire wound around it to create a decorative effect.
Like all our metal threads, broad plate is made here in the UK.
Use broad plate by strapping it over padding or flat on the fabric in a zigzag pattern. Use a matching sewing thread with a coating of beeswax.
